On Tuesday, four of our pupils travelled to Omagh Golf Club to take part in the Junior Irish Schools’ Qualifying competition, ran by Golf Ireland.
It took place in stunning weather conditions, with clear skies and warm temperatures creating an ideal setting for the players. The course was in excellent shape, with the greens playing like glass, providing a real challenge for the competitors.
Caleb made his golfing debut for CHS in the tournament. He showed great promise, remaining composed throughout the day, scoring 23 points in his first school competition – a commendable effort for a new player.
Noah had a solid round, scoring an impressive 30 points. His approach play was particularly strong allowing him to navigate the course with confidence and consistency, contributing to his respectable score.
Finlay also performed well, handling the course with maturity beyond his years. He stayed focused throughout his round, finishing with 22 points.
The standout performance of the day came from Ellie, who scored 33 points, including a run of 3 consecutive birdies on the back nine. Her skill and determination paid off as she secured second place in the qualifying competition, earning her a spot in the national finals this coming April.
Overall, it was a successful day for our Junior golfers, with each player delivering a solid performance on a well prepared course. We look forward to supporting Ellie as she represents Ulster Schools’ in the Irish Schools’ finals.
Next week it is Jack’s turn as he travels to Roe Park to play in the Senior qualifying event and we wish him every success.
