VE Day Competition for Years 8-10 pupils
When VE Day dawns on 8th May 2020 it will be 75 years since the guns fell silent at the end of the Second World War in Europe. As we approach this significant date, the History Department in CHS would like to commemorate it, even though we can’t all be together. Thus, your task is to create some bunting for VE day!
We would like you to make at least 3 flags in your bunting and then send a picture to Mrs Allen (sallen211@c2kni.net) of your bunting hanging in your house or window. House points will be given to the best entries! Closing date for entries is Wednesday 6th May.
To make your bunting:
- Download and print the template 3 times from http://downloads.bbc.co.uk/england/pdf/bunting_template_bbc_local_radio.pdf (or alternatively, create your own template)
- Cut along the dotted lines
- Decorate your bunting by decorating the main triangles but leave the top strip blank. You can decorate in any way you like! Some ideas include: A soldier from WW2, The Union Flag, A dove of peace, Quotes from Churchill, images from VE day etc
- When you’ve decorated your flags, fold along the solid black line to make a flap. Put the flap over some string or ribbon and glue or tape the flap in place. Leave a gap between each triangle and keep adding them until you’re done with a spare bit of string/ribbon on each end for hanging. Hang your bunting up for people to enjoy!
