U14 Junior Schools Plate - quarter final
The U14's played Wallace in the quarter final of the Junior Schools plate. They were really enthusiastic about this match and started strongly with good runs from Rebecca McKeown, Erin Anderson and Freya Kennedy. The girls were first to every ball, and were winning every tackle but just not get the final touch to place the ball in the net. Wallace put the pressure on Cookstowns squanderd chances and slotted the ball calmly into the net. Cookstown responded quickly with several breaks only to be thwarted by Wallace’s defence and some good goalkeeping. Finally Cookstown were rewarded with a penalty corner which Erin Anderson calmly slotted hard past the keeper. Wallace again pressed back and went 2-1 up just before the half time whistle.
After half time the girls went out hard. Emily Rodgers, Hollie Watterson, Alex Thom and Katie Young were working really well up front and had several brilliant runs. A well executed pass from Rebecca McKeown saw Emily beat two players and calmy slot the ball past the outcoming Wallace keeper - the girls were back in the game. Cookstown remained firm with great tackles and clearances from Emma Crozier, Jordyn Carso, Rebekah Hill and Sarah Loughlin. A neat pass from Emma Crozier saw Erin Anderson create some space at the top of the D to finish an excellent reverse shot leaving the final score 3-2 to CHS putting them through to the Semi Final.
