Two Trick Pony?

31st Mar 2014

On occasion we hear the phrase ‘Girl’s hockey and Netball; that is all Cookstown High School does in the winter term.’   That is definitely not the case as every year in PE we follow a very wide curriculum which caters for a vast variety of children.

This term in particular has seen some excellent performances in gymnastics where all the girls have been able to explore their creative sides. This has resulted in some artistic pieces of work which have linked and flowed from movement to movement. This progress was encouraged by children who wanted their accomplishment displayed on the school website. They wanted to show others what they could do outside of the two different games represented in the High school. So as we move through Gymnastics and Dance this term we continue to see pupil’s from all backgrounds develop and excel in the sporting arena.

So are we a two sports department? Definitely not!  The only trick on a pony these girls will face in the coming weeks is a vault off a horse which they await with anticipation and excitement.

Here’s to increased participation of Physical Activity throughout the years. Well done girls.
