Cross Country
Congratulations to the cross country team who participated in the E District championships last week.
All pupils performed admirably in tough conditions and we had some outstanding performances.
Andrew Shaw, Nicholas Griggs and Jamie Shephard all qualified for the Ulster Championships next month.
Nicholas deservers special mention as he won the year 10 race by over 20 meters beating a field of over 120 competitors.
Swimming
Congratulations to Eve Barrett who represented the school in the Ulster Swimming Championships in Larne on Saturday.
Eve participated in the 100m freestyle event and obtained a PB – well done Eve.
Hockey
On Saturday the boys hosted Methody College Belfast, and had a successful morning. The U15’s won 3-0, the U14’s won 9-0 and the U13’s won 2-1.
This Saturday sees the 1st XI travel to MCB to play in the first round of the Burney Cup, whilst the U13’s and U14’s host Wallace at home.
The girls were on their travels with the senior teams going to Victoria College and the juniors travelling to Armagh. The 1st XI lost and the seconds drew and all the juniors had closely contested matches against Armagh.
On Tuesday the girls 2nd XI travelled to Castlederg for a McDowell Plate match. This was a very exciting encounter in which the teams couldn’t be separated in normal time, needing penalty run ins to decide the tie. Cookstown were victorious in this and they now progress to the next round.
This Saturday sees the girls travelling to local rivals Dungannon Royal.
