School Council Elections

27th Nov 2020

Cookstown High School’s Student Council is an important aspect of school life. It ensures that pupils have a say in exactly what matters to them the most. The main aim of the Student Council is to involve pupils in the decisions that will affect them in their school life.

The Student council is run by the pupils and are supported by our Pastoral Vice Principal Mrs Allen. The student council consists of two pupils from each year group, two from the LSC and the Senior Prefect team. At the beginning of October, pupils were introduced by their form tutors to the importance of and what is involved in being part of the School Council. All form classes nominated two class reps for the elections. The Millar was set up as a Polling Station and was manned by Yr 13 pupils.  The Polling Station concept was introduced to all pupils to provide a more realistic voting experience. Results were collated and the successful candidates were informed. All pupils were presented with school council badges at their first meeting which took place on Friday 27th November.

The successful candidates for Cookstown High’s new school council for 2020– 2021 are as follows:

Year 8              Connie Mei McGarvey and Ethan Redford

Year 9              Charles Acheson and William Charles

Year 12            Robert Lewis and Jordan Young
