Primary 7 Poet of the Year Competition

21st Jun 2013

The CHS ‘Primary Seven Poet of the Year’ competition ran for a second time this year with local primary school pupils being invited to write poems about Dreams.

Many children engaged with this creative writing initiative and the standard of writing across the competition was very high. Pupil responses were engaging and imaginative with many pupils delving into the imaginative world of dreams and others writing about their future aspirations. The winning poem was ‘ My Dream’ by Demi Clarke from Cookstown Primary School. The poem was commended for its elegant rhyme and impressive use of vocabulary. Demi was awarded the ‘Primary Seven Poet of the Year’ trophy and her poem will be published in the next edition of the School Magazine.
