Photograph Competition Winners!

15th Nov 2018

Thank you to all pupils and staff who entered the Geography Photography Competition. Mr Matthews kindly agreed to judge the competition for us.

"I would like to commend all those pupils and staff who entered the competition. The standard of entries was exceptionally high. It was a difficult task to compare the wide variety of shots and narrow them down to 5 winning entries. As someone who enjoys taking photographs I was very impressed with the composition of the shots, the use of light and the many and varied locations pictured. It is wonderful to see so many aspects of physical Geography in our beautiful country and further afield showcased in this way. I think that the most encouraging thing for me is that young people are getting out into the countryside armed with their cameras or phones and taking note of their surroundings. I hope that each of you enjoyed composing and taking the photographs as much as I enjoyed viewing them." Mr Matthews

Top 5 (in no particular order)

  1. Danielle Booth 'Winter in my backyard'.
  2. Emily Rodgers 'Cookstown Sunset'.
  3. Mia Black 'Portrush Harbour'.
  4. Ben Sweetnam 'County Kerry'.
  5. Sarah Fulton 'French Hillside'.

The top 5 photographs along with many of the other entries will be on display along the Geography Corridor. All entries will receive House Points and the winners will receive a prize.

Thank you to everyone who took part and we will definitely run this competition next year.
