The Principal of Cookstown High School, Gwyneth Evans and the Chair of Governors, Lynne Dripps, were delighted to welcome the minister of education, Mr Peter Weir MLA, to the high school. The Principal and the minister discussed the accomplishments at the High School with significantly increased numbers of pupils joining the school alongside excellent GCSE and A level results year on year and future developments. The minister had the opportunity to have a tour of the building and to meet sixth form students. During the morning Mr Weir discussed the current challenges within education and the determination to continue to provide pupils with high quality education to equip them for their future.
