Holocaust Educational Trust Seminar

26th Feb 2019

Yesterday two of our Year 13 History students, Adam and Cameron, attended a seminar in Belfast in which they had the chance to listen to the moving testimony of Janine Webber, a Holocaust survivor.  This seminar was in preparation for a one-day visit to Auschwitz-Birkenau in Poland next Tuesday as part of the Holocaust Educational Trust’s programme, Lessons From Auschwitz.

Janine Webber was born into a Jewish family in the Eastern Polish town of Lvov which was taken over, firstly by the Soviet Union in 1939 and subsequently by Nazi Germany in 1941.  Janine’s family suffered terribly during the war and the Holocaust and neither her mother or father survived.  She also witnessed the murder of her 7-year-old brother.  You can read more about her story here: https://www.het.org.uk/survivors-janine-webber
