Girls Football - Vauxhall National Finals

26th Jun 2013

CHS Girls Senior Football team competed in the Vauxhall National Finals at Mid Ulster Sports Arena.

This is the first time in the school’s history the girl’s have ever competed at this level; and in only the 2nd year of playing competitive football. The girls’ reached the final by coming runners up in their area. In the Final the girl’s faced Holy Cross, Cullybackey and Hunterhouse, all of whom had players of a Northern Ireland standard. The Cookstown girls were narrowly defeated by Hunterhouse 2-1 and were extremely unlucky to get beaten by Cullybackey against the run of play. However they drew with Holy Cross a team who had beaten them in their area. These results although not reflective of their play, showed the Cookstown girls are developing every year. The future is bright for girl’s football and we hope to see this success continue over the years.
