Cookery Demonstrations
This week, three Year 11 GCSE Home Economics: Food and Nutrition classes are enjoying cookery demonstrations by Wenda Bristow, representing the Livestock and Meat Commission. Whilst she rustled up two tasty recipes (Balsamic Beef and Tomato Ragu, along with Lamb Pilaf), Wenda educated the pupils about the hygienic handling and storage of meat, the nutritive value of meat and the importance of the NI Farm Quality Assurance Scheme in relation to guaranteeing traceability and good animal welfare. We were very fortunate to avail of these cookery demonstrations in Cookstown High School, as demand for them exceeds the number of demonstrations available annually.
