Course Requirements:
· You need to be able to play an instrument
· You need to enjoy Music and play regularly in lessons or a band
· You need to be able to work well with others and on your own
What will you do?
Composing (30%):
2 compositions, each with a composition log, lasting 3-6 minutes in total. This is assessed as Controlled Assessment.
Performing (35%):
In Year 12, a visiting examiner will assess two performances, one solo and one ensemble. This is also part of Controlled Assessment
Listening (35%):
In Year 12, a test of aural perception in two parts lasting a total of approx 90 minutes. This focuses on the Core set works and two
Optional Areas which are studied in class.
Transferable Skills
Studying Music means you develop skills which are useful for lots of careers. Some of these are: creativity, self-discipline, communication (through music, written and spoken words), problem-solving, working with others.
