Overview

“Success in Maths does not depend on how many answers you know, but by what you do when you don’t know the answer!”  (Anon)

The study of Mathematics is extremely important in understanding the part that Mathematics plays in the world around us – in the ratio and proportion of art works, the scores of well-known songs, the content of a favourite recipe and in the structure of our daily lives.  Mathematics is also at the core of many other subjects including Science, Engineering and Economics.

The study of Mathematics will allow pupils to develop skills in problem solving and the ability to reason logically.

All pupils study Mathematics to the end of Key Stage 4, with every pupil in year 12 sitting their GCSE in this subject. Our aim is for pupils to acquire the skills and problem solving techniques which will allow them to finish Key Stage 4 with a recognised qualification in Mathematics.

All pupils have access to an online resource called MyMaths. This allows pupils to practise questions for topics they are finding more challenging and there are Booster Packs and Revision Questions available for pupils when preparing for tests and exams.
