The History Department at CHS follows the CCEA exam course for A Level studies. Through studying this course, students will explore key events that have helped shape today’s institutions, governments and societies. The course guides students towards becoming critical and reflective thinkers who are able to communicate effectively and make reasoned judgments based on evidence. They will also finish the course with a strong set of transferable analytical and written skills which are very appealing to a wide range of employers.
Our History Department is a dynamic learning environment, offering pupils the opportunity to participate in a two-day visit to Dublin. Through this real life investigation, pupils are able to bring their studies to life as they visit the sights and attractions that feature in the Partition Of Ireland Module. Pupils also attend annual conferences on their different modules of study and these events are an opportunity to engage with experts in the various fields of history as well as in examination techniques.
