GCSE English Language is a core subject and is taken by all students throughout Years 11 and 12.

What is GCSE English Language about?
GCSE English Language provides pupils with the opportunities to:
- develop skills in speaking, listening, reading and writing necessary to communicate with others confidently, effectively, precisely and appropriately;
- form independent views and challenge what is heard or read through such skills as reasoning and argument.

The examination for Unit 1 is sat by pupils in year 11 and the Unit 2 exam is taken in year 12. Units 3 and 4 are assessed at different stages throughout years 11 and 12.
