Always a very relaxing and enjoyable day, the County Sports competition was held in Fivemiletown for the second year in succession. A very enjoyable day was had by our 41 pupils and results were tremendous. We returned with a total of 21 Gold, 20 Silver and 7 Bronze Medals, an overall total of 48 medals. And….. one of our pupils set a new County Record. Nicholas Griggs, in the U15 Boys 800m, set a new record of 2 minutes 5 second. Special mention also goes to Lucy McClenaghan who won 3 gold medals, and Hugo Cleary-McGuffin and Euan Anderson who both won 2 gold medals each.
Congratulations to all the athletes who have represented Cookstown High School so well throughout the season and especially to Nicholas Griggs for keeping Cookstown High School’s name very much alive in Ulster and Irish Athletics.
