EmployabilityFEST ‘08
posted 9 June 2008

Cookstown High School’s contribution to the ‘Fest’ this year was our involvement in a Junior Apprentice competition at South West College, Dungannon. 15 Year 9 pupils worked in teams of three on various tasks:

Selling a Car             (Donnelly Bros)
Town Planning         (Assets Sector)
Making cocktails
Setting a table           (Hospitality Sector)
Designing the next best thing in IT  (IT Sector)
Energy Efficiency      (NIE)

The pupils made full use of the day and utilised their team-work, communication, listening, self-management, problem solving, decision making, self-management and being creative skills. Many groups were awarded prizes for the efforts which included cars, boxes of chocolates and wallets. Unfortunately we just lost out on winning a Nintendo Wii for the school coming a close second with our Interactive Tractor concept. Maybe next time.
