posted 1 March 07

Twenty Year 9 and 10 boys returned from their successful sports trip to Scotland and England on Sunday afternoon. They spent four days at their Stockport base and an enjoyable time was had by all.

Highlights of the trip included:
- a tour of Old Trafford
- watching Sale Sharks v London Irish in a Guinness Premiership rugby match
- watching Middlesbrough v Reading in a Premiership soccer match

The main purpose of the trip however was to play fixtures against different schools and this proved most successful as the boys won all three matches. Details are as follows:

Soccer
- Won 1-0 against Stranraer Academy (Goal scorer - Alan S)

- Won 4-3 against Victoria College, Crewe (Goal scorers - Garry K 2, Keith H, Jamie D)

Rugby
-
Won 60-10 against Stranraer Academy (Tries – Jamie B 6, Stephen R 2, Maurice H, Jamie S)

The boys performed superbly in all three matches and this was commented on by the host school coaches. It was excellent to catch up with former Cookstown High School pupil Neil McGuckin who is now teaching at Victoria College (Crewe).

All in all this was an excellent tour. Enjoy the photos!
