Year 8 Citizenship Trip
posted 15 June 2006

On Monday 5 th June we went to Crawfordsburn Scout Centre to take part in a three day Citizenship trip. First we were told the rules then we went into our rooms and tried to make the beds.

We then spent the day playing games like tag rugby and softball. Then we played games about ‘diversity’. Some of these games were archery and wall climbing to find out about ‘inclusion’, caving to discover about ‘asylum seekers’ and spider web to learn about working together.

Our favourite things about the trip were the rock climbing, caving and treasure hunts and of course the tuck shop. On the last night we had a banquet, well we discovered it was really a ‘hunger banquet’, to show us that people in different parts of the world have very little food while others had far too much. We were the poor group and we ate bread and crackers.

Overall, we had a really good time, learnt loads about being better citizens and we would love to go back again!
