High School Sets the Pace at the E-District Championship       [Posted: 27/06/05]


A total of 69 Pupils from Cookstown High School took part in the ‘E’ district Schools Athletic Championships which were held at the Antrim Forum. With perfect weather conditions the scene was set for some excellent performances and 29 Cookstown High School athletes recorded 1st 2nd or 3rd places. This also entitled them to entry into the Ulster Schools Athletic Championships.

29 of our athletes competed in the Ulster School Athletic Championships. Almost half our athletes finished in the top six in Ulster in their events and in total they returned with Five Ulster Medals and an Ulster Champion:
S. Whittle won Bronze in the Junior Boys Shot,
S. Knox won Bronze medals in both the Intermediate Boys Long jump and 100m
R. Simpson won silver in the Minor Girls High Jump
R. Dallas won Gold and became Ulster Champion in the Junior Girls Javelin


 

 

Nestle Irish Schools Athletic Championships   [Posted: 27/06/05]


Three of our athletes have gone on to represent Cookstown High School at the Irish Schools Athletic Champions held in Tullamore, Co. Offaly.
In the Intermediate Boys Long Jump S. Knox jumped 6.06 metres to give him 5th place in
Ireland.
S.Whittle had a personal best of 13.10 metres in the Shot Putt. This was good enough to earn him an All Ireland Silver Medal.
R. Dallas then made history by becoming the first athlete from
Cookstown High School to retain an All Ireland Title. With a throw of 29.94 metres in the Junior Girls Javelin she was able to secure her second Gold Medal in as many years.

 

 

Year 9 Athletes called up to District Team   [Posted: 27/06/05]


Congratulations to David, Kirstie and Alice who were selected for the Year 9 ‘E’ District athletics Team. The team came third in the’ Districts Year 9 Athletics Competition’ held at the Antrim Forum.

 

 

Year 9 Athletics Teams Set the Pace   [Posted: 27/06/05]


The Year 9 Athletics Teams Competed in the district final of the Year 9 Athletics Competition. The Boys Team finished in 3rd place overall, whilst the girls finished in 1st place, beating their nearest rivals by a massive 8 points. Well done to both teams.

 

 

Runaway success for athletes     [Posted: 16/06/04]
62 of our pupils recently competed in the ‘E’ District Athletic Championships held at Templemore in Londonderry. A very enjoyable day was had by all and over half of our competitors qualified to compete in the Ulster Schools Athletic Championships.
Four of our pupils Rebecca, Alistair, Chloe and Steven, achieved further success by winning Ulster championship medals and qualifying for the All Ireland Athletic Championships at Tullamore, Co Offally at the start of June.
