Senior SELB League Winners

Congratulations to Cookstown High School Senior Netball Squad who are having another great season.  Over the past few months they have been playing in the N. Ireland Schools League.

They have played all the top schools in the Southern Board area defeating all teams involved which included Portadown College, St. Paul’s Bessbrook, St Michael’s Lurgan, Our Lady’s, Newry and Sacred Heart, Newry. This is the sixth year in succession that they have qualified for the Southern Area finals.

On Friday 29th February Cookstown met Our Lady’s Newry in the final of the League and after an excellent team performance from the girls, Cookstown emerged as champions defeating them 24 goals to 13. Cookstown will now play Loreto in the quarterfinal of the Northern Ireland League.

Minor SELB League Winners

Congratulations to Cookstown High School Minor Netball Squad who have become SELB League Champions.

This is the first year that Cookstown has entered a minor squad into this league and the minors have not let themselves down. They had to played St Paul’s Bessbrook and Lismore Comprehensive School in order to reach the final. Cookstown defeated St. Paul’s but lost to Lismore in the League stages. However, Cookstown then had to face Lismore again in the League Finals held on Friday 29th February in Lisburn Racquets. After an extremely tough and exciting match in a match that saw both extra time and a 2 consecutive goal win, Cookstown emerged as champions defeating them 31 goals to 29. .Cookstown will now play Monkstown in the semifinal of the Northern Ireland League.
