Pupils promote recycling
posted 18 Feb 2010

Pupils have launched a new recycling initiative this week.

The 12 active and environmentally aware members of the schools Eco team have provided new recycling bins for all the classrooms and offices throughout the school.

The Eco team which comprises 10 pupils and 2 members of staff is committed to raising the profile of recycling at the school. Over the next week, members of the Eco team will give presentations and talks to pupils through which they will stress the importance of recycling and explain how they aim to encourage recycling at Cookstown High School.

The school is working towards reducing its black bin waste and increasing its recyclable waste to help Cookstown Council meet its recycling target of 50% by 2020.

Members of the Eco team are appreciative of the invaluable help and advice given by David Richardson, Recycling Officer at Cookstown District Council. Thanks to the Council for being so supportive in helping to launch this recycling project.
