posted 4 Aug 2008

Last week four CHS Pupils travelled to Cardiff to represent Ireland in the Home Nations Under 18 Hockey Tournament.

This proved to be a very successful tournament for the boys with Ireland winning the tournament for the first time.

Stuart S and Stephen S both had excellent tournaments dominating the midfield. Both boys started and played throughout each of the matches with Stephen scoring a superb goal against Wales to secure Ireland's place in the final against England.

Alistair T pulled off a string of excellent saves against England in the group stages and then again in the final while Mark C played up front and scored against England in Ireland's 2-2 draw in the group stages.

Ireland returned home Gold Medallists having beaten Scotland 2-1, Wales 3-1 , a 2 -2 draw with England in the group stages and then a 2-1 win against England in the final.
