Mini Enterprise 2007/2008
posted 2 April 2008

In September 2007 year 13 Business Studies students set up and ran a Mini Company called ‘Unique’.

They organised themselves very quickly and raised finance by selling shares to peers and staff. They were then able to buy products to sell to the Halloween market Products sold included such things as Halloween masks and hats, skeleton men, fluffy pens, stretchy men, key rings, spider men which walked on walls, ghost note paper and pencils and horrible squeezy balls with bugs inside.

The profit made from these sales was then used to fund the production of our ‘Unique’ Calendar. This calendar was designed and manufactured by the Mini Company team. The printing was done by Gortreagh Printing. The theme for the calendar was ‘Xcuses’ and all illustrations were done by 3 ‘A’ Level Art students who were hired to do this for the Mini Company.

The calendars were assembled in school by the team and sold at Christmas to pupils, staff and parents.

Products such as phone charms and bracelets were also purchased in Hong Kong for the Christmas market.

A total of £450 was made after costs were paid and the shareholders reimbursed.

£225 was then donated to Diabetes UK Dungannon Branch and a further £225 to Down Syndrome Association.
