Pupils have a busy Easter with Hockey commitments

Following their Bronze Medal success in Holland at the European Youth Nations Cup 5 boys, and 1 girl from the School, were selected to play for Ireland against Belgium in International matches.

Alistair T, Stuart S, Stephen S and Mark C all featured for the Irish under 18 team who played in Dublin (25th – 28th March). Alistair pulled of a number of impressive saves, including a penalty stroke save in Ireland’s first match. Stuart had an excellent tournament playing in midfield throughout the series. Stephen also continued his good form in midfield following the matches against England in February. Mark who was unable to play because of illness until the final match, helped Ireland secure a 4-4 draw, and gained his first under 18 International Cap.

Meanwhile, in Belgium, Ian S was Cookstown’s representative on the Irish under 16 Team. Ian played in every match primarily at Centre Midfield and was instrumental in securing Ireland’s win in the final match against Belgium.

Following this tournament the third year pupil at Cookstown High School has been selected for the Under 16 European Championships in The Hague, in July.

Cookstown High School was also represented in the girls’ tournament in Dublin with Rebecca D playing a central role in the Irish under 18 girls defeating Belgium in their three match series.
