Ulster Schools Cross Country Championships

Four Year 8 pupils competed in the Ulster Schools Cross Country Championships last Wednesday. Conditions were tough due to the cold wind sweeping across the Mallusk playing fields.

The Minor girls were first off. Claire B and Erin H ran well in a very quick race and finished in the top half of the field of over 130 athletes.

Joshua W and Ian J then took to the start line in the Minor Boys 1 mile race. Joshua was never far off the leading pack and put in a tremendous finish to come in 13 th place. This really is an excellent achievement and is the best performance by a CHS pupil for many years. Ian also ran very well to finish in place.

This ends a short but very successful cross country season and the training and experience undertaken will stand the athletes in good stead for the athletics season which starts after Easter.
