Cookstown High School U14 8 v 0 Kilkeel U14 This was the boys’ first match after Christmas and they were looking to try and get back to winning ways. Cookstown came out of the blocks fast putting the Kilkeel defence under a lot of pressure but the ball just wasn’t falling to any of the Cookstown forwards when inside the circle. Ten minutes in Cookstown took the lead through a deft deflection at the back post from Millar. Millar then doubled the tally after finishing of a great move down the right before Vartabedian and McAllen made it 4-0 with close range efforts. Kilkeel failed to create many chances as Cookstown’s defence led by the dominant Elliott blocked everything thrown at them. When Kilkeel finally broke through Walker was on hand to make a good save and was able to keep a clean sheet. In the second half Cookstown piled on the pressure with Vartabedian, Johnston and Millar forcing good saves from the Kilkeel keeper. Cookstown made it five when Sloan ran through the Kilkeel defence before slotting the ball into the corner. He then got his second after a one-two with McAllen and his third through a short corner. Sloan then put the finishing touches to Cookstown’s good performance grabbing his fourth and Cookstown’s eighth with a high shot. The boys would like to thank Mark Noble for coaching and umpiring. Team: Walker, R Johnston, Morrow, Elliott, Cheevers, Robinson, McAllen, Harkness, Millar, M Johnston, Vartabedian, Sloan (capt). |
