Cookstown High School Win Junior P.S.N.I Netball Tournament On Friday 9 February a junior netball team from Cookstown High School tookpart in a P.S.N.I Cross- Community Netball Tournament held in DungannonLeisure Centre. Teams that took part in the tournament were from Cookstown,Dungannon, Fivemiletown, Donaghmore and Coalisland. A total of 18 games wereplayed. Filemiletown organized this tournament and it was again very kindly sponsored by the P.S.N.I in Dungannon. All schools Participating would like to thank the P.S.N.I for the continued support throughout the year in sponsoring the 5 cross- community tournaments in each age group. Cookstown High School played Dungannon Integrated College winning 7-1, Fivemiletown High School winning 6-2, St. Joseph’s Donaghmore winning 8-0, St.Joseph’s Coalisland winning 11-0, and St. Patrick’s Academy winning 7-1.In the final they met Fivemiletown High School and won convincingly 16-0. Cookstown High School senior team win the Southern netball league (again!) Congratulations to Cookstown High School Senior Netball team who are having another great season. Earlier in the season they won the vi- sport Cross-Border tournament in Dublin. Over the winter they have been playing in the N. Ireland Schools cup and league, and have been doing very well. They have won all their cup matches,defeating St. Micheals Lurgan (45 - 29). Aquinas Grammar in the 3rd Round winning(40 - 18). They are now through to the quarter finals of the schools cup for the 5th successive year and will meet Glenlola College Bangor next week. In the N. Ireland league they have played the top schools in the southernboard area and have defeated St. Michaels Lurgan (39 - 30) Portadown College(49 - 8) Banbridge Academy (40 - 21) Lurgan College and Sacred Heart Nerwy (27- 16). This is the third year in sucession that they have qualified for thesouthern area finals. In the finals for the second year in a row they met Banbridge Academy and after a very tough and exciting match, Cookstown emerged as champions for the second year in succession (27 - 24). From this victory they go intro the knock-out stage of the league and arenow playing Our Lady and St. Patricks Knock in the N. Ireland Semi Finals of the league next week. Cookstown High School and the Girls Senior Netball team would like to thank John McConnell from Intersport Superstore in Cookstown for very kindly sponsoring the team for the third year in succession.
