Cookstown High School junior netball team have qualified for the Northern Ireland schools cup finals. They are the first netball team in over 25 years to have reached the schools cup and only the second team in the schools history to have made a cup final. Last year the same team won the Northern Ireland schools minor plate competition also making history by being the first High school netball team to win a Northern Ireland trophy. In this years schools competition they have played four rounds of the competition knocking out four top netball teams on the way to the finals. In the first round they played Sacred Heart, Newry and won (17-12). In the second round they played St. Cecilla’s, Londonderry and won (22-18) In the quarter finals they played St. Genieve’s and won (26-10) And in the semi-finals they played Banbridge Academy and won (21-15) This means they have now qualified for the Northern Ireland Schools Cup finals on Saturday 1st April in Lisburn Racquets Club at 11.15 am. They will be playing Wallace High School who are this years Northern Ireland and All Ireland league champions.
